preparations.

August 06, 2012

In my experience, much of the magic of a wedding is revealed in the last-minute preparations. This is especially the case for the even-tempered bride and groom who - though they have neglected a pivotal detail and underestimated the amount of time a task will take - manage to keep a cool head. Two of our closest friends were married over the weekend and we were lucky enough to be invited to join in their ceremony. The memories I'll most cherish may reside in those dwindling hours before we traveled to the barn in which they married and began to put on our dress clothes: the nervous energy of the ceremony rehearsal; the pauses and chatter with a home-brew in our hands; the rehearsal dinner with a view of Lake Michigan; the projects that took longer than expected such as arranging the market flowers and writing one's vows; and the late night filled with conversation and laughter and anticipation of the festivities ahead.

  4. These are just gorgeous, Mally. I really like the lighting and can see why you prefer film to digital. And even though you aren't in a single shot, they make me miss you terribly.

  8. Mallory, I really enjoyed getting to know you better last week-end. I'll never forget the bussel challenge! You could add to your resume', "will take on any new task dropped in my lap, with enthusiasm and persistance." Thank you for that.

  9. Thank you, Teri! It was so nice getting to know you, too. We had a wonderful weekend and a lot of that is due to the kindness and warmth of your family. That bustle was a headache, but we did our best! ;)
