Dunes, Part Two

June 10, 2012

Scientists tell us that up to 60% of the adult human body is water;  70% of our brains is water, 90% of our lungs is water; 80% of our blood is water. So much of what makes our bodies function is comprised of water. It is no mystery, then, why we are so mesmerized by beach shores, rolling waves, wet sand. On our recent camping trip, we made the beach a priority. If you look carefully at (and enlarge) the first photo, you can just barely see the Chicago skyline. We napped on the sand, collected rocks, and took in the piercing sounds of seagulls. When I am at the beach, I feel like a kid again. I am especially amazed by the final photo in this series, the layers of color in the water, the subtle vignetting that occurred during processing.
