how i change.

April 10, 2011

There is something that happens to me upon the entrance of this season. A weight from my shoulders, a spring in my step. Farewell to winter means welcoming my best self.

When spring comes, I find that I:

+ smile more.

+ take more walks.

+ visit thrift stores more frequently.

+ crave more fruit. which lends itself to eating better.

+ get more exercise.

+ read more books.

+ make more things. including plans.

+ get more crafty.

+ get the urge to paint.

+ think in shades of yellow.

+ am hoping more, dreaming more.

As bad as winter is, spring is that much better.

ps. I am dying to share a few snapshots of a wall decoration Ryan and I created this weekend, but I'm waiting to add the finishing touches before I photograph it. Meanwhile, I am dreaming about our new apartment - what it will look like, how big the kitchen will be, the plants and herbs I want to acquire and arrange in it. I simply cannot wait to move!

How is your spring so far, friends?

  1. Spring has the same effect on me! The thing is I don't hate winter at all but there's just something about spring that basically makes me want to be my own version of Martha Stewart. I want to be a gardener so bad! And I love being crafty and I even pulled my camera out and took some pictures just for the sake of taking pictures again which I haven't done in months. I'm hoping to start blogging again too. Anywho, I love the photos in this post and now I'm going to check out the rest of your blog!

  2. I most definitely agree Mal, the spirits are lifted when that sun shines and the smell of the earth after a thunderstorm just fills you with joy! Spring is such an awakening to both the body and the soul :).

  4. Hi Liz! Thanks for checking out my site! I'm glad to hear that you've also caught the spring craft fever! I can relate to your desire to be a gardener. My mother gardens but somehow I never learned her craft. Spring always makes me yearn for plants and herbs. I am hoping to arrange some urban window/patio potted plants this summer. Happy blogging!
